Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war– and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

My Rating: 4.5 stars

My Thoughts:

I’ve read quite a few dystopia books and I haven’t really loved any of them besides Veronica Roth’s Divergent. I’m happy to say I found another one that I loved! This book was unique, stunning, heart stopping, and above all else, poetic. It was such beautiful story of love, loss, betrayal, hope and so much more.

Juliette starts off as a broken character. She believes she is a monster until the amazingly sweet Adam comes into the picture and proves her wrong. He shows her friendship and more importantly, unconditional love, and helps her to become a much stronger version of herself. I loved to watch their love for each other blossom and how even under impossible circumstances it never faltered.

I will admit, at first I wasn’t a fan of Tahereh Mafi’s writing style, but after I got used to it, I absolutely LOVED it! Her writing is extremely poetic and I found myself rereading different lines that just sounded so beautiful. Writing wise, it was by far the most unique book I have ever read, in a good way.

The plot flowed very well through the whole book and I never found myself bored. There were times when I couldn’t read the book fast enough it was that exciting! The end took quite a turn and I can’t wait for the sequel to come out.

This book is a must-read for sure!
