Life sucks for orphans Callum Tate and Harper Bailey.

Kicked out of their foster homes because they suffer the ‘eighteen disease’ with nothing but a hundred dollar check from the government and a pat on the back, they’re forced to rely on a system that failed them miserably.

So they sit. They sit inside Social Services, waiting for their social workers to call their names and offer them the miracle they know will never come but they sit anyway because they have nowhere else to go, no other options on their very literal and figurative empty plates.

But as they sit, they notice the other. Although captivated, they each come to the conclusion that life is complicated enough without throwing in a boiling tension that can’t ever be acted upon because they’re both too busy thinking about where their next meal will come from but when their names are called and both are placed on a year long waiting list for permanent housing, suddenly relying on each other seems like a very viable plan B.

And, oh, how lovely Plan B’s can be.

Well, except for the psycho from Harper’s past that haunts her and, oh, yeah, there’s the little issue that neither of them knows they’re in love with the other.

Needless to say, Callum & Harper’s life just got a bit more complicated.

My Rating: 4.5 stars

My Thoughts:

Holy cow!! I have never ever read a book quite like this one! It was incredible! The writing, the plot, and the characters were all so unique and so real! Not to mention the whole thing was just an emotional roller coaster! Jeezums!

When Harper and Callum meet, it’s the first time that either of them has had someone to look out for them. Both have had such incredibly tragic lives that it just breaks your heart. They’ve always been alone in life but now they have each other. Almost instantly they start to have feeling for each other but neither is willing to admit it to the other. So they go on with their lives together always tip-toeing around the fact that the are desperately in love.

Time and time again, Callum and Harper face countless hardships. It was beautiful to see how together with complete faith and trust in each other they face those obstacles. This story was just so heartbreaking and heart warming at the same time and every emotion that the characters felt, you felt as well. It was just an incredible story.

This story was told from both Harper and Callum’s POV. Even though they fell in love quickly and even got married (in order to get an apartment, I know crazy right?!), neither of them knew how the other felt. That being said pretty much the whole book I grew more and more frustrated with them, wanting them to just say it already!! But the anticipation certainly made it all the better when it finally happened!

The ending was just crazy! In the last 50 pages I literally felt every emotion known to man. It was amazing and wrapped everything up flawlessly and then it definitely had a picture perfect happily ever after!

All in all, this is a breathtaking must read!
