When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder — much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing — not even a smear of blood — to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

My Rating: 5 stars

My Thoughts:

I have had these books for months and months and for some insane reason I have never read them! I started to read City of Bones after I saw the trailer for the movie and thought it looked awesome and once I started it, I didn’t finish it until the early hours of the morning! I just couldn’t put this book down!

Clary stumbles into a world that surrounds but is hidden from humans. For some reason she can see this world and the people and creatures in it. Upon the discovery of this world, she meets Jace, Alec, and Isabelle, all Shadowhunters aka demon hunters. With her best friend Simon and the Shadowhunters, Clary begins to search for her mother who was taken from their New York City apartment. Along the way she uncovers truths about herself and her father that have been hidden from her since she was born and she discovers what it means to fall in love and to have your heartbreak.

All the characters in this book are AMAZING! They are all fun, loving, bad***, and loyal, but I must say, Clary and Jace are by far my favorite! Clary is incredibly brave and strong as she enters a world that she could never even imagine being real. She would do anything for the ones she loves and proves that time and time again. Now Jace…I love himsoooo much! He’s a swoon-worthy bad boy who has a pain filled past and when he meets Clary he begins to find his way in life. He loves both Alec and Isabelle, who are his adoptive brother and sister, and would protect either of them with his life but he still never felt that belonged. With Clary, he found his place and he became a different person, one who showed his kindness, protectiveness, and love. They’re relationship was fun and witty but also deep, real, and beautiful!

This whole book was constantly action-packed and it was a mix of every young adult paranormal series. There’s angels, demons, vampires, werewolves, fey, and everything in between and I loved it all! The whole complicated world was created and written very well so complements to Cassandra Clare and also a thanks for writing this incredible series!

The ending was a little bit of a shocker to say the least and I have no idea what is going to happen so now I’m off to read the next book in this MUST READ series!
